How to read a daily schedule

Whether a provider publishes one is itself informative. When they do, a schedule answers questions that the inclusion list cannot.

Publication is the first signal

Roughly half the programmes we hold publish a daily outline. The other half describe inclusions without attaching them to days, which is not dishonest but is considerably less useful.

A schedule tells you the pace, the amount of unstructured time, and what happens on the first and last days — three things an inclusion list is structurally unable to convey.

What a schedule reveals

  • How much of the day is programmed, and how much is not
  • Whether arrival and departure days carry any programme at all
  • Whether sessions are grouped or spread
  • How early the day starts, and whether that is negotiable
  • Whether the same thing happens every day
