Goal
Movement and recovery
Programmes in this category put a scheduled physical practice at the centre of the week — walking, swimming, mat work, pilates, or some combination — and build the rest of the day around it. They are not training camps and they are not physiotherapy. What varies most is how much is scheduled, whether anyone qualified is watching, and whether the practice is adapted to the person or simply timetabled.

These are hospitality programmes, not rehabilitation or physiotherapy. If you have an injury or a condition affected by exercise, speak to your own clinician before booking. We do not assess whether a programme is suitable for you, and we do not ask you for health information.
What varies between these programmes
Written by the Cartemont editorial team from the records we hold.
Where programmes differ
- How many sessions are scheduled per day, and how many of those are optional.
- Whether sessions are one-to-one, small group, or open classes anyone staying can join.
- Who leads them — a qualified instructor, a physiotherapist, or hospitality staff with no stated qualification.
- Whether the practice is assessed at the start, or the same programme is run for everyone.
- Whether the terrain and the season actually allow the outdoor part of the schedule.
What is worth comparing
- Session count and format, because "daily movement" covers both a guided hour and an unsupervised gym key.
- The qualification of whoever leads the sessions, and whether anyone has checked it.
- Whether an initial assessment is included or charged separately.
- What happens on a rest day — some programmes schedule them, others simply have gaps.
- Equipment and facilities that are actually on site, rather than nearby.
Before you enquire
Commonly not included
- Flights and travel insurance.
- One-to-one sessions beyond the included allocation.
- Equipment hire, where the practice needs it.
- Physiotherapy or any clinical assessment.
Questions worth asking a provider
- How many sessions are included, and how long is each one?
- Are sessions individual or group, and how large is a group?
- Who leads them and what are they qualified in?
- Is anything adapted to me, and on what basis?
- What is the schedule on a day with poor weather?
