Goal

Longevity and healthy ageing

Programmes marketed under longevity vary more than any other category on this site, and the word carries claims that are worth separating from what is actually delivered. In practice most are a combination of the other categories — movement, food, rest, sometimes measurement — run over a longer stay and framed around habits rather than a single week. Nothing in this category slows ageing, and no programme here should be read as saying it does.

A man in his sixties in a white linen shirt and straw hat, seated on a bench in a shaded stone courtyard, looking out past the camera into warm afternoon light.

Nothing in this category is preventive medicine, diagnostics or treatment, and no programme here slows or reverses ageing. Anything described as a test or a screening is a question for your own doctor. We do not assess suitability and we do not ask you for health information.

What varies between these programmes

Written by the Cartemont editorial team from the records we hold.

Where programmes differ

  • Whether anything is measured, by whom, and what happens to the results afterwards.
  • Whether a physician is involved or the programme is delivered by hospitality staff.
  • Programme length, which runs from a week to a month in what we have recorded.
  • Whether there is any follow-up, and whether it is included or sold separately.
  • How much of the content is simply the movement or nutrition programme under a different name.

What is worth comparing

  • What is actually measured, and whether the measurement is explained before you arrive.
  • The qualification of whoever interprets anything measured.
  • Whether follow-up is included, and for how long.
  • Cost per night against the shorter programmes, since length is the main driver here.
  • What the provider claims, in its own words, compared with what the itemised inclusions show.

Before you enquire

Commonly not included

  • Flights and travel insurance.
  • Laboratory work or diagnostics, which are frequently charged separately where offered at all.
  • Follow-up consultations after departure.
  • Any supplement or product recommended during the stay.

Questions worth asking a provider

  • What exactly is measured, and who interprets it?
  • What happens to any data collected about me?
  • Is follow-up included, and for how long?
  • What does this include that a shorter programme does not?
  • What is claimed here that is not in the inclusion list?
